People often ask if we take donations. We do!
We're a Charitable Donation - Kusamura Bonsai is a tax exempt 501(c)3 organization (Federal ID 77-0324827) educating people about the hobby of bonsai. To support our club we happily accept donations and put them to good use. In exchange, we will will get you a receipt to include when filing your taxes.
Areas Covered - Although our club meets in Palo Alto, club members reside throughout the Santa Clara and San Mateo counties so it is easy for us to accept donations from that area. If you live outside this area we might refer you to another nearer club, depending on the material.
What We Accept - Unfortunately we're not able to take everything that's offered to us, but we're happy to come take a look. If we can use your donation in a demonstration or sell at our annual show we will arrange a date and time to collect your donation. Usually we can take the donated items immediately, but sometimes a we are offered a very large collection of material so we may need to organize a group of our members to come collect the donation.
In a few cases we've been offered trees in someone's garden that is about to be re-landscaped. You might be surprised but sometimes we are able to take such donations - depending on the size and the time of the year. Obviously it is much more difficult to take such donations, but we're happy to take a look.
Cash Is Always Welcome Too - Naturally we also take cash if you're got some spare that you'd like to share for a worthy cause!
We Can't Pay You - Each year we are contacted by someone that has some bonsai trees, bonsai pots, tools, books and other material that are no longer needed. Occasionally people ask us to buy their material. We can't do that. But we can create an inventory and send you a receipt that you may include with your tax returns to show your donation.
Contacting Us - Simply send mail us at - info -at- kusamurabonsai -dot- org and someone will get in touch with you. If you want to send us a photo, that's also helpful.
Thank you for thinking of us.
