Haikus written for our February 2024 Winter Silohouette meeting where members showed trees in their Winter state with bare branches.
“Those pesky squirrels
Digging in the pots again
Wake up lazy dog!”
“A stolen bonsai:
An empty spot in the yard.
And, one in the heart”
“Roots brood, dark and deep,
Black twigs etch white winter sky,
Tiny green buds sleep.”
“Frozen Ground, strong roots resting, patiently waiting for frogs to awake.”
“Tiny maple tree
Unfurl your hidden beauty
Alas, no leaves yet”
“Rain pounds, birdbath full
of small wings, dripping, set to
fly to bare apple tree.”
“Cold barren branches
Waiting for springs breath of warmth
Yet knows its beauty”
