Sandy’s Quince – A Reflection of the Artist
Botanical Name: Pseudocydonia sinensis
Common Name: Chinese Quince
Tree Name: Sandy’s Quince
Story of the Tree
This Chinese Quince was styled by Sandy Planting, and to Rita, it remains a vivid expression of Sandy’s unique artistic vision. The tree’s form is bold and personal—unmistakably shaped by the hands of someone who saw beyond convention.
When in bloom, the quince produces soft pink flowers that mirror the subtle pink tints in the leaves, even when it's not flowering. It’s a detail that ties together foliage and blossom, structure and color—an echo of Sandy’s thoughtful design.
Rita purchased the tree from Sandy and John Planting during a sale at their home, and has cared for it since. The tree, now known as Sandy’s Quince, is both a living tribute and a continued part of the Kusamura community’s creative lineage.
“I love its uniqueness. I think it’s reflective of Sandy’s true artistry.”
